Horizon: The Ghost in Your Genes

on BBC Two England

9/9. Could the dodgy pie your grandfather once ate be the root of your stomach problems? The answer's yes, according to scientists who have found a whole new layer to our genes beyond DNA, the very cornerstone on which modern biology sits. With it comes startling first evidence that this can cause heritable effects in humans. The controversial science of epigenetics represents a major shift in thinking from the view that DNA carries all our heritable information, and that nothing an individual does in their lifetime will be biologically passed to their children.
A new series is scheduled to start in January.
Focus magazine: £3.25. The new issue, which goes on sale Thursday 27 October, includes an article on epigenetics
