Tales of Twelve Cities

on BBC Two England

A documentary film series about life in some of Britain's cities as seen by a few of the people who live in them.
From Plymouth
5: The Fishmonger's Tale
Plymouth's Barbican is the original heart of the city and it has been home to Fred Brimacombe and his family for generations. Following family tradition, Fred became a fisherman, but is now a fishmonger. He plies his trade in the market at Sutton Harbour, where the Pilgrim Fathers left for the New World. Everyone in the Barbican knows Fred and it is a place where people are mindful of their history, yet know they must make concessions to change.
