The Eyemouth Disaster

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Exactly 100 years ago, an unexpected storm brought catastrophe to the little fishing village of Eyemouth in Berwickshire; 129 of its men were lost at sea. With contemporary accounts and memories handed down among the fishing folk, Doreen Taylor reconstructs what happened on that terrible day, and how the community struggled through to survival.
