Michael Berkeley's guest today is cartoonist Posy Simmonds, whose minutely observed reflections of contemporary middle-class mores in the characters of the Weber family delighted readers of The Guardian during the Thatcher era. Her most recent creation, The Late Gemma Bovery (inspired by Flaubert), appeared first in serial form and then as a book. Her musical choices include keyboard music by Bach, Haydn and Schubert, instrumental works by Handel, Brahms and Hilda Paredes, and an excerpt from the soundtrack to the film Paris, Texas.
