In the USA, a mother-to-be has a one-in-four chance of her baby being delivered by caesarean section. It is that common because doctors fear being sued and, in many cases operate 'just to be on the safe side'. Legal actions against doctors have increased to the point that many are now ceasing to practise. Is the same thing about to happen here in Britain? Series producer John Groom
