My Brilliant Career: Ratner: Lord of the Rings

on BBC Two England

First of a six-part series in which former executives and senior managers reflect on their fall from power.

In April 1993, Gerald Ratner made a joke about the quality of the jewellery his company sold, to liven up a speech he was making at London's Royal Albert Hall. Within months he had resigned.
Tonight he talks about his career at the head of the Ratner's empire and his one costly mistake.
