On 28 January 1986, the space shuttle Challenger exploded just 73 seconds into its mission, killing outright the seven-strong crew. This documentary recalls the worst disaster in US space-flight history and includes interviews with Nasa's senior manager at the time, Jud Lovingood , engineer Roger Boisjoly , and Grace Corrigan , mother of schoolteacher-turned-astronaut Christa McAuliffe.
