As part of the season devoted to the great American film director, a special screening of this film recalling his long career. Ford made over 130 films and received six Academy Awards-but he is best remembered for his masterly Westerns. He and his friends recall them.
Ford himself makes a nostalgic return to Monument Valley, Utah. the location for Stagecoach, and an extract from My Darling Clementine shows Ford's re-enactment of the gunfight at the OK Corral-based on an account given him by Wyatt Earp. Sequences from such films as Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Cheyenne Autumn feature many regular members of the Ford repertory company, among them HARRY CAREY JB, JOHN QUALEN and BEN JOHNSON.
