Ireland begin their quest for a third consecutive Walker Cup in one of the amateur season's highlights. The UK hasn't won three straight titles since the biennial clash with the USA was first contested in 1922. But the team will be confident of adding to the triumphs of and 2001 when it takes to the fairways of Ganton - one of the UK's best matchplay courses.

Gary Wolstenholme leads the way as he seeks a repeat of past glories. His place in history is assured, having been on three winning teams-but he will be desperate for victory again in Scarborough this weekend.
