From Walpole's Bottom to Major's Underpants

on BBC Two England

In the second of a two-part documentary celebrating the art of political cartoons, former Conservative Party chairman Kenneth Baker looks more closely at John Major's famous underpants and talks to their creator, Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell. Major has had the worst cartoon press of any prime minister for more than two centuries.
Baker asks political satirists Ralph Steadman, Peter Brookes and Nick Garland whether there are any limits to the savagery of the satirical paintbrush, and editors Ian Hislop and Lord Deedes reveal occasions when cartoons have been censored on grounds of taste.
