In 1916 United States troops are engaged in Mexico, tracking down Pancho Villa's forces. US Army Major Thomas Thorn is appointed Awards Officer with the task of selecting five men to receive the Congressional Medal of Honour. With his five candidates and Adelaide Geary, an American woman accused of treason, Thorn sets out on the long journey to US base at Cordura.
