A Family Apart

on BBC Two England

When Sandy [text removed] married his wartime bride, nobody knew he was carrying the gene for a disease described by doctors as one of the worst to afflict mankind. It is called Huntington's Chorea and this rare, incurable and hereditary disease is now destroying his family. The programme tells the story of three generations of this remarkable family. They include Prue, the only one of Sandy [text removed] 's four children not to have so far been struck down. Now she must decide whether to take a controversial test that would reveal whether she too is carrying the disease.
