Bom in the Ukraine, Edith Vogel was one of the most distinguished of the many fine musicians who settled in this country during World War II. "I never knew I could play the piano. It took me years, in England, to wake up". In conversation with James Gibb , Stephen Plaistow presents recordings from a broadcasting career which started in Austria when Vogel was 15 and continued with the BBC for more than 40 years.
