The Ring within the Rings

on BBC Two England

A documentary recounting the history of Olympic boxing, featuring archive footage of, and interviews with, many of the sport's greatest champions who began their rise to fame at the Games. Presented by Desmond Lynam.
The story starts with Cassius Clay, later known as Muhammad Ali, and the gold he won at the 1960 Games in Rome. Archive footage charts his rise to Olympic glory. Clay's lead was followed by two men whom he later faced in legendary contests for the world heavyweight crown - Joe Frazier and George Foreman.
Among the other contributors are Floyd Patterson; Sugar Ray Leonard; Teofilio Stevenson, who won three successive golds from 1972 to 1980; Laszlo Papp; and Britain's three post-war Olympic champions - Dick McTaggart, Terry Spinks and Chris Finnegan. All relate their stories of what it felt like to triumph.
