Mr Beesley 's Secret Garden
The first of six programmes on the wildlife of contrasting regions made by Europe's best wildlife cameramen.
The semi-detached suburban garden belonging to John and Valerie Beesley in Bristol is in no way exceptional. But this programme - the result of two years' filming by specialist cameramen-is a safari down their garden path that is full of surprises: where strange creatures swim on the surface of leaves, where wasps hatch from the mummified bodies of aphids and fox cubs gambol on the lawn. A garden has several times as many kinds of plant as the richest woodland - and that leads to a greater variety of animal life. After this exploration of the way your garden grows, converting the chemicals of the soil into foods for birds and mammals, it will never seem the same again. Narrated by BARRY PAINE
