World records were under threat in the elite races, as Paula Radcliffe aimed for her third win, while a field of unprecedented quality contested the men's honours. And with 32,000 people tackling the 26-mile course - including such well-known faces as Jo Brand , Gordon Ramsay , James Cracknell and Steve Redgrave - there should be some revealing stories to tell.
