Mr. K. C. BOSWELL : 'From Barter to Credit'
Mr. Boswell, assisted by Baron Rollo , Mr. Pepys, and the Lancashire cotton-spinner, shows how the complicated modern system of credit has grown out of the primitive system of barter. He illustrates the development from barter to coinage, from coinage to paper-credits, with instances from the Middle Ages, the gold mines, the gold-smiths and silversmiths and the Bank of England.
