An adaptation by M. H. Allen of the short story by Somerset Maugham
Cast
The action takes place in Mrs. Albert Forrester's flat near the Marble Arch, and in Mrs. Bullfinch's rooms in Kennington Road
Production by M. H. Allen
This is the story of Mrs. Albert Forrester, the authoress, and of how she came to write her magnificent detective story 'The Achilles Statue'. Known in the literary world as 'the mistress of the semi-colon', Mrs. Forrester has been prolific but never a best-seller.
It is distressing for the lady when her husband, weary of doing the housekeeping and taking a back seat, has made off with her cook, Mrs. Bullfinch. But it is through her endeavours to get him back that Mrs. Forrester is able to write her great thriller.
