First of six programmes that present an alternative view of intriguing and challenging subjects, made by BBCtv's
Disability Programmes Unit. A Cry in the Cosmos
When people power forced the collapse of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, a steamroller of change was launched in eastern Europe. Since then many of the early hopes and expectations have crumbled; racist attacks on refugees, foreign "guest workers" and disabled people have led to fears of a resurgence of the radical right. But many in the disability movement warn that the threat from the liberal left under the guise of euthanasia and assisted suicide is just as real as the threat of the neo Nazis.
