A series for those who love sail and the sea. Old Gaffers
Narrated by Tom Salmon Every year, off the River Blackwater on the East Coast, the Old Gaffers slog it out.
In 1985 the weather was the worst for 15 years and only the sturdiest of the old working boats and yachts sailed the 30-mile course.
Two of the leaders in their class are Helen and Violet, an 80-year-old shrimping bawlie, and the 105-year-old oyster smack Sunbeam.
The film follows their close-fought race.
