Artist in Focus: Vladimir Ashkenazy
This week Morning Performance celebrates the 65th birthday of Russian pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy. Today's programme concentrates on his early career as a concert pianist and includes a from the 1960s of Prokofiev's Sixth Sonata and some recordings made during the 1955 Warsaw Chopin Competition, in which he finished second.
