Back in the USSR

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Beatles biographer
Hunter Davies got back from the USSR with a handful of records and tapes, and news of a rapidly changing Soviet rock scene.
The Beatles, once regarded by the Soviet authorities as a symbol of social sickness in the West, received the ultimate seal of approval earlier this year, when Mikhail Gorbachev confessed that he and his wife were both firm fans.
With help from some of the big noises in Russian rock,
Hunter Davies gives his musical holiday snaps an airing.
Producer ANDREW PARFITT. Stereo (Re-broadcast on Friday at 4.5pm)
