Master Class

on BBC Two England

Daniel Barenboim works with young professional pianists on six Beethoven piano sonatas.
*
Tonight: Op. 13. in C minor Pathetique
with Dennis Lee, Marlene Fleet
Op. 31 No.2, in D minor: April 16

None of the previous masters seen in this series has been an exponent of the most widely played of all instruments-the piano. Daniel Barenboim is well known to viewers (he was last seen with his cellist wife, Jacqueline du Pre, in the Omnibus programme 'Jacqueline') and though still only in his twenties, is one of the outstanding pianists of today. The students in his class, two promising young talents, Dennis Lee and Marlene Fleet, are studying a set of Beethoven sonatas.
