Durrell's Ark

on BBC Two England

As a 9-year-old boy in Corfu, Gerald Durrell collected scorpions in a matchbox.
Some 50 years later he has converted his matchbox into a zoo that has become a breeding centre for endangered animals. Through his 30 books, translated into 30 languages, and countless television programmes, he has taken his audience all over the world, opening their eyes to the most vulnerable places and animals on our planet. With 1988 marking the 25th anniversary of the Jersey
Wildlife Preservation Trust
Durrell remembers two decades of filming and shows how his passionate concern for animals as a child remains the driving force in the Trust today. Producer PAUL LANG BBC Bristol
