This week sees the opening of the film Gadjo Dilo , in which a young
Parisian goes to Romania to search for Gypsy music. Sean Rafferty discovers what sort of music he would have found and what musical legacy Romanian Gypsy music has left the classical world. Music includes Tavemer and Tchaikovsky, and, at about 6.40, Brahms's Violin Sonata No 3 in D minor, Op 108, played by Itzhak Perlman and Vladimir Ashkenazy (piano).
