Music on 2: Music Now

on BBC Two England

Edited and introduced by John Amis

The Netherlands Wind Ensemble directed by Edo De Waart play parts of the Octandre by Varese and the Octet by Stravinsky at Dartington and on Dartmoor.

Janet Baker talks and, with George Malcolm at the piano, sings songs by Duparc and Tippett. Sir Michael Tippett talks about his operas. Music Now went to a recording of The Midsummer Marriage with Joan Carlyle, Alberto Remedios, and Raimund Herincx. Covent Garden is soon premiering Sir Michael's new opera The Knot Garden, and a Blues from it, arranged for two pianos and percussion, will be played by John Constable, George Malcolm, and Keith Millar.
