In this- second of seven programmes, Arthur Negus enjoys the company of Michael Smith , theteievision cook. Michael, in previoiis series, has provided Arthur with an 18th-century dinner and a 19th-century breakfast. This time, they discuss 'tea' from its introduction from China to England in - the 17th century, through to the Victorian high tea with fancy cakes and cucumber sandwiches. As tea became more and more fashionable, so English Craftsmen turned to making more and more tea ware, at first copying Chinese styles, but going on to develop their own strong tradition.
