Arthur Wood was born at Heckmondwike, Yorkshire, in 1875. He has composed a considerable quantity of music, particularly for revues and musical comedies. His most recent success was an arrangement for brass band of Handel's ' Fireworks ' music. It was played during the London Music Festival by Callenders Band in Ken Wood before an audience of over forty thousand people, which included, among many distinguished musicians, Arturo Toscanini.
