Oblomov
For Oblomov, played by George Wendt , sloth is a way of life. Goncharov's anti-hero has been reawakened; only this time as the archetypal party bureaucrat. Zachar, who has become Oblomov's foul-tempered chauffeur, is played by Ronald Fraser. Shot on location in Moscow and in the sleepy town of Kostroma on the banks of the Volga, this is the first BBC film to be made in Russia with private and not official sponsorship. Director Paul Lee
