Ian McMillan takes the railwayjourney of a lifetime, visiting the first private railway in Russia and the last narrow-gauge line in Latvia and discovering the gruesome truth about the role of narrow-gauge railways in the deportation of Lithuanians during the Soviet and German occupations. His travelling companions are Frank Cooper and Stephen Wiggs of the New Europe Heritage Railway Trust, an organisation devoted to sharing British railway expertise with the growing band of emerging narrow-gauge railways throughout Russia and the Baltic States.
