Lord Attlee looks back on thirty years at the centre of affairs, and talks informally about what it is like to be Prime Minister.
Speaking intimately to an old friend, he makes frank comments on great contemporaries and great events.
The programme was filmed in 1958 at the cottage to which Lord Attlee retired when he left 10, Downing Street-Cherry Cottage, Great Missenden.
