Series of films on British culture and identity, viewed from a black perspective. Crossing the Tracks
Youth culture is in the racial melting pot. There are white disc jockeys like Cheshire Cat who sound black, a black heavy rock band called His Imperial Majesty and an Asian rapper, Apache Indian, in the pop charts. In such areas as music, fashion and language, black styles are setting the trends among the young. Fashion designer Joe Casely-Hayford says: "All the major Paris designers are drawing greatly from black culture at the moment." Dub poet
Benjamin Zephaniah assesses the current impact of black culture in such areas of youth activity. With contributions from Apache Indian, Bally Sagoo,
Fun-da-Mental, Cheshire Cat and many more. Director Celina Smith
