Damon Albarn, charismatic singer of Blur, introduces a who's who of current British pop, featuring bands who look set to dominate single and album charts for years to come. Albarn suggests that these are the artists who have helped British music find its voice after the passing of US grunge; certainly no one here pretends to sound American.
Some of the bands are established stars: Blur sing a new song Country House (a likely number one before the year is out) and Pulp perform their recent hit Common People. Elastica, Boo Radleys, PJ Harvey and Supergrass are marginally less familiar. Twelve bands altogether in a bracing 50 minutes full of memories of the Kinks and the Sex Pistols for our older readers.
