Eric, adventure-seeking young heir to the Corvanian throne, runs away from his country's embassy in Washington. After travelling for days he arrives at the circus where Big Tim Champion, impressed by his excellent horsemanship and unaware of his identity, makes him a star attraction and sends out advertising material heralding his act.
