An impetuous ex-Confederate officer marries a scheming dance-hall girl without knowing about her past in this colourful and romantic Western. When the additional ingredients are a crippled younger brother and unscrupulous Union politicians, an explosive situation is inevitable in which the violence of the title is in the emotions rather than the action.
