Mr Shepard and Mr Milne

on BBC Two England

A special presentation by The Book Programme to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh.
In this portrait of the two men and their happy collaboration, filmed in the countryside in which the stories were set, Richard Kay plays the young A. A. Milne , author of the Pooh books, and David Horovitch plays the young E. H. Shepard , who illustrated the stories.
E. H. Shepard himself appears, filmed shortly before his death earlier this year, recalling his first visits to the 'Hundred Acre Wood' and ' Poohsticks Bridge '. And Christopher Robin Milne , son of the author, reads extracts from his father's memoirs and from the books and poems.
