I must admit I want my solitude. It's why in the end I went back to
California. More to get away than to go to the other place really. I think I should be more disagreeable. If I was a bit more disagreeable with people, I think I'd be better off as an artist. Painter David Hockney talks with EDWARD LUCIE-SMITH about new experiences and new work.
