The climax of the biennial competition that sets out to find the nation's most musically gifted youngster.
Five finalists, representing instruments from across the orchestral spectrum, have been selected from the 25-strong semi-final line-up. Each contestant will perform a concerto alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra - under the baton of its Israeli chief conductor Ilan Volkov - in front of a panel of judges chaired by John Sessions and comprising Gillian Moore, Peter Jablonski, Colin Currie, Janice Graham, John Wallace and Michael Cox. During the judges' deliberations, violinist Jennifer Pike, the youngest ever winner of the title back in 2002, returns to entertain the audience with a performance.
Stephanie Hughes and Alistair Appleton will be the hosts for the evening at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, and there's expert commentary from Iain Burnside of Radio 3.
