England: Olive Chancellor, a shy but forceful suffragette, takes on the education of Verena Tarrant, a pretty, naive young woman with a gift for oratory. But her influence over Verena is threatened by Basil Hansom, an attractive but impecunious lawyer. Not only is he in love with Verena, he is less than sympathetic to the feminist cause.
