The Day the Gala Came to Town
Once a year Yorkshire miners and their families gather to enjoy themselves at the NUM demonstration and gala. Last summer, in their thousands, they converged on Wakefield where 20 brass bands led the parade to Thornes Park for a day of relaxation and fun. Even Arthur Scargill was heard telling jokes against himself!
