The story of Ed Murrow written and narrated by Frank Gillard
"Ed believed that a reporter's job was to inform as objectively as possible. He was full of opinions but felt that they should be clearly labelled as such."
Charles Collingwood reporting from CBS, New York.
For 25 years Ed Murrow was America's most respected broadcaster. First, from wartime Britain with his nightly report - This Is London and later in the US with his weekly CBS TV programme - See It Now. Before he died in 1965, he was knighted in recognition of his war-time services.
The programme has extracts from some of Murrow's famous broadcasts and includes interviews with SENATOR HUBERT HUMPHREY, FRED W. FRIENDLY, CHARLES COLLINGWOOD, Murrow's widow (JANET), and SIR HUGH GREENE (former Director-General of the BBC).
