When a baby dies at birth or in the first few days of life, all too often the memories of that baby are lost completely. He is taken from his parents before they can see him, to save them distress, buried in an unmarked grave, unnamed on a death certificate, never photographed. Worst of all, friends and family avoid talking about him. We try to protect parents by pretending the tragedy has not happened. But many parents would welcome the opportunity to see, hold and mourn their babies openly. Experts in the field believe we must change our attitude to save these parents even greater hurt. In this documentary parents and professionals talk about their own experiences, to try to break down the wall of silence surrounding the lost babies.
