Cheltenham Jazz Festival

The second of two concerts from the festival features two saxophonists - Tommy Smith from Scotland and Chico Freeman from America. Tommy Smith's Chamber Jazz Ensemble give the first performance of his festival commission Planet Wave - a Short
History of the Universe, with a text by Scottish poet Edwin Morgan.
Chico Freeman leads an all-American quintet featuring Jimmy Owens (trumpet),
George Cables (piano), Cecil McBee (bass) and Winnard Harper (drums). Introduced by Geoffrey Smith , who talks to Tommy Smith and Chico Freeman about their music.
