In 1982 a new sports car made a name for itself, that was 'Nimrod'. Beneath its newness the car carried another older title ' Aston Martin '. After a break of 20 years the British sports car returned against all the odds to long distance motor racing. It was to be a brave effort, the story essentially of two men and one fixation, the 24-hour race at Le Mans. Robin Hamilton 's works Nimrod and Richard Williams 's private entry Nimrod had to do one extraordinary thing, the cars had to be driven flat out for 24 hours and still have the strength to cross the finishing line of the 1982 24-hour race at Le Mans. Whatever other contests might develop at Le Mans the rivalry between the works team and the private entry would stay intense.
