Muses with Milligan

on BBC Two England

Poetry and Jazz
Introduced by Spike Milligan.
with Jo Searle, The Five Worthies, Steve Benbow, Peter Porter, Charles Causley.
(Spike Milligan is appearing in 'Son of Oblomov' at the Comedy Theatre, London)

Milligan's muses are mostly poets and musicians. Tonight he introduces a Cornish poet, Charles Causley, who is a school teacher at Launceston, and Peter Porter, an Australian poet who came here in 1951 and now works in advertising in London. His musicians include Steve Benbow, who adds his own special brand of humour from his apparently unlimited repertory of folk songs, and The Five Worthies, the resident group of jazz musicians led by Alan Clare. Jo Earle, who has sung with Ted Heath and Nat Temple, is this week's special singer.
