Continuing this historic series of lectures given at Harvard University in 1973, shown again as a tribute to Leonard Bernstein , who died this year. 2: Musical Syntax. Pursuing his comparisons between language and music, Leonard Bernstein digs beneath the surface to uncover the 'deep structure'. The point is made effectively and humorously by the performance of a 'prose' version of part of Mozart's Symphony No 40, specially written by Bernstein and performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
