John Packer is the manager of a small firm manufacturing expensive fabrics in the lowlands of Scotland-but the way he shows his wares to the world is, to say the least, spectacular. This summer he hired the Palace of Schleissheim in Munich, and filled it with music, food, champagne and fashion. He manages the entire proceedings himself.
Russell Harty watches the build-up to the evening, and the way this determined and precise impresario makes sure that the wine is at the right temperature and cuckoos sing on time.
