The X Files: Space

on BBC Two England

Continuing the repeat episodes from the first series.

A space shuttle mission is aborted. Was it sabotage, or is there a yet more mysterious cause?

The X Files 9.00pm BBC2
The inspiration for this episode was a photograph of Mars taken in 1977 showing what appeared to be a sculpted face on the surface of the planet. Ironically Space was supposed to be a cheap episode to make (the series had exceeded its budget by this time) but in fact turned out to be the most expensive of the first season.

The story revolves around a strange force that appears to be sabotaging the United States' space shuttle programme. Agents Scully and Mulder are called in by Nasa's female Mission Control commander to head the investigation to find out just what is going on before her boyfriend flies on the next mission.
