An irascible millionaire, Samuel Fulton , decides to visit some impoverished relatives to find out whether they are ' worthy ' of his fortune. In this enchanting small-town musical, Charles Coburn plays the rich uncle who discovers that wealth and power do not necessarily equate with happiness. This is one of Sirk's most lighthearted films, revelling in the atmospheric portrait of America during the flapper period.
