Muffat and Corelli
When Muffat visited Corelli in Rome, it was hard to tell who was more impressed: Muffat at the size of Corelli's orchestra or Corelli at Muffat's fusion of church and ballet styles. Today's programme ends with the spectacular final sonata from the set Muffat tried out at Corelli's house.
